About this meeting: Wildfires impact the power system in adverse ways and may pose adequacy challenges as well as influence new resource acquisition decisions. Council Staff are preparing to capture the operational risk of transmission derating, smoke-induced reduction of solar generation capacity factors, and considerations of the location value of resources due to smoke cover. By embedding the operational risk of wildfires in the modeling and data, the goal is to have “wildfire-informed” planning included in across the scenario modeling.
This session will allow Council advisory committee members and interested parties to provide perspective on the proposed approach and share their own methods of incorporating wildfires in their modeling.
