Steven Simmons

Senior Energy Forecasting Analyst

Steven joined the Council in May of 2012 where he leads forecasting efforts in transportation, including electric vehicles, and natural gas pricing.  Steven also leads modeling efforts in greenhouse gas emissions from the oil and natural gas industry, including methane emissions, and behind-the-meter solar and solar + battery.  He is the chair of the Natural Gas Advisory Committee, and co-chair of the Demand Forecasting Advisory Committee.

Prior to joining the Council, Steven led Integrated Resource Planning for NW Natural, a natural gas utility based in the Northwest. As a senior engineer and manager in the semiconductor industry, he led forecasting efforts for Micron Technology and LSI Corp and holds multiple patents in microchip manufacturing.

Steven earned a B.S. in Systems-Control Engineering from the University of California at San Diego, and an M.S. in Mathematical Modeling-Environmental Systems from Humboldt State University where he developed ecological models.
